Band plan for Uniden Scanners

I see in the N-WIN database information that there is a band plan for Uniden scanners. Is this band plan needed for the 996T series or not. I don't see anywhere in the software (ARC996) where this could be entered.

Am I missing something?

The 996/396 and later scanners don't require you to enter a band plan for P25 trunked systems. They get the necessary band plan data from the control channel.

nd5y is correct for p25 standard systems, but a Motorola Type II system does require a band plan in some cases or it won't track properly. If you don't see the "Custom" band plan selection in your menu options for system types then I think you probably didn't install the firmware update that added the "Custom Band Plan" to the menu. I don't have ARC996 so I don't know if there is a place to enter that data. I use FreeScan software and it does have a place to enter that data.

You don't need a band plan for P25 systems. I got a Uniden 796D working on the state system without a band plan programmed in. It seemed to follow the radio traffic just fine. This was using the Omaha tower.

You will need the band plan for South Dakota if you ever go there. Thats the only system I have had to
use a plan on in my travels from there to south Texas.

Band Plan Issue

I have a Uniden 396XT scanner that is montioring a EF Johnson P25 digital system. I notice that on occasion the scanner will automatically change the band plan. For example I will be listening to the radio traffic with no problem. Then I'll notice it is very quiet for a while and when I look at the band plan it isn't what I programmed it to be. It is something totally different. The step is also different. What causes that to happen?
