Baofeng earpiece sound quality

Good morning all,
I have a few Baofeng radios (uv-82's and uv-82-5's) and the sound quality is pretty good actually. I was surprised. That said, the sound quality when using the earpiece they provide is TERRIBLE!! It sounds very hollow, and when the volume is turned up, it gets very muffled. It's the same with all of the stock earpieces that came with my units. Is there a setting that needs to be changed or something like that? Or is there a better earpiece that I can buy? I also have a Motorola cp-200 that I use with a Motorola swivel earpiece, and that sounds great. Anything out there that's comparable?

Edit: looking for a Dual PTT earpiece. Should've mentioned that above, sorry!

No. There is no setting other than the volume control.
Your only option is to find a headset or earpiece that sounds good to you.

I didn't think there was a setting I could change, but I'm new to this and wanted to be sure. Do you know of any dual PTT earpieces that have decent sound quality? The dual PTT is the main reason I purchased these radios.

I don't use headsets or speaker-mics so I don't know where to find a good one. Maybe somebody else can tell you.

The earpiece manufacturer designs the earpiece to certain audio parameters. Most have aggressive high frequency roll off because of noisy reception of analog repeaters and bad pickup from Mike elements of certain brands of radios. Commercial radios do operate in noisy environments such as factory floors.

Next generation of radios will incorporate dual microphone elements to suppress and cancel extra noise. Some models such as the Hytera do that now.
Modern iPhones have a extra coprocessor just designed for audio DSP.

Find the earpiece that works best for you and use that instead. You may find the military on the throat to be the best in earpiece.

There are also Bluetooth add-ons that use the most modern cellphone earpieces that do their own DSP in reception and transmission. The Bluetooth adapters usually run about $150 and up.

Shop around and you might to ask John Milkor for assistance. He has used and reviewed these.
