• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

why would i wanna run around with baofeng on it? lol i'm not chinese, was thinking of replaceing it with something that looked better

Like a motorola tag? The average person would just think you have a cell phone, much less a chinese radio which most of them are anyway. :)
Maybe I'll get rid of my yaesu and vertex and kenwood tags...nahhh.

ha if i cant find something to tag it with i might just get a motorola sticker and put over it lmao, but nah i think the small address labels would be good to put on it for 1 reason, if its dropped and the rite person finds it boom there is possably a chance to get it back but not likely.it's not easy when a person cant work and cant draw any money from anywhere. if it wasnt for a bday i wouldnt have had any cash for it and it took every penny +few bucks from my dad to get it. but just about everything sold in the U.S. will have a "made in china" or "made in japan" sticker on it somewhere lol

Some of the little talkies, mine included will let you program your call sign, last name or some sort of id up to a certain # of characters into a tag that comes up when the radio is powered on.
Was that what you were thinking?

was actually talking about the sticker where it says baofeng on it, but yeah i think you can do that on this one as well i havent looked over everything yet, just reviews and all about it. i went ahead and ordered it through ebay since it said was shipping from arizona here in the USA. i ordered some small gadgets from a few chinese shops and they even try to stiff ya on $2.00 so i sure as heck wasnt gonna attempt something more expensive.. omg speaking of which my gf just told me she was eating a spicy orange chicken meal and there aint no chicken in it ...funny i was typeing about it then she came in here and told me that lol. anyways. it will take me abit to get the hang of it but i do like the idea of the radio/flashlight on it will be handy, "sigh" another cable to save up for, still havent bought 1 for my bc95xlt i just got about 2 weeks ago.

Get good at programming by hand, that helps so the cables aren't a must. Also garage sales can be great if you find the right one's.
Also get good at projects. For example I'd like a hd speaker mic for my vx6r but I rather not order one, so I have an old mh45 public safety mic that i'm gonna change out the plug on so it will work on my talkie, lol.

The Baofeng sticker sits in a recessed "cutout" (for lack of a better term) that is 3/4 of an inch in length and 1/8 of an inch high.

If you decide to use some kind of address label, you may need need to trim it down to size.
