Baofeng UV-5R additional feature?

I was listening to a local all-news FM station on my UV-5R when the radio suddenly switched to the "A" band on the radio which was set for my local ham FM UHF repeater. When the repeater transmission ended the radio switched back to the broadcast FM station. I haven''t looked at the "book" that is supplied with the radio but the radio definitely did what I described several times as the UHF repeater went on and off the air.

If you want to stop that, turn TDR in the menu settings to off. The only downside is, with TDR setting to off, it will not dual-receive on A and B bands together. You will have to hit the band key to switch back and forth from A band to B band and back, should conversations take place on both A & B bands at the same time. It will mute the band that is not selected. And, it will not cut off the FM broadcast station to switch to the active frequency on A or B band.
