Baofeng Baofeng UV82 programing cable

How do I determine what cables will actually work programming a Baofeng UV 82 HT?

I had one that came with it when I bought a UV82.
This cable also worked with Wouxin KG1-UVD.

Lost that cable, and now I have purchased two replacement PSC 03 cables from different companies.

Neither works.
The mini CD from Baofeng that came with one of the cables; says use program # 348.

<There is no program # 348 on the disk>

When I try to use the cables on a laptop using WInXP and Chirp;
I get error messages:
"ERROR 2 radio not found".
"COM 5 not available".

IDK how to identify a cable that will indeed work with this radio.

Possbly, I have a cable that is not FTDI compliant, but I don't know how to check this.

I have found the cable that comes with a counterfeit Baofeng is junk, and that is why a driver CD is included. The genuine cable does not need a driver CD.

The knockoff cables do not have the FTDI hardware. Windows recognizes the FTDI hardware and installs the correct driver.
