• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Someone gave me a Baofeng UVB3+, and a UV82. Batteries were shot. I have been unable to find a battery for the UVB3+. The existing battery has no part number on it. I can buy a new UVB3+ for about $22 that includes the battery, but I don't need another radio, just a battery. Does anyone who regularly deals with Baofeng radios know where I can get a new battery?

Unfortunately, I don't read Cyrillic, so the Russian page, though interesting, didn't prove useful. The Aliexpress page looked promising until I tried to buy. The listed battery was $19.80 plus $11.58 for shipping. I can buy a new UVB3+ with battery for $22. Thanks for the effort. I am going to look around on Aliexpress some more. I find searching on their site somewhat perplexing, since so many things appear that have nothing to do with what I am searching for. Their shipping rates range from free to ridiculous. eBay often presents the same issue, though custom searches can help. I get the feeling that this radio has been discontinued, and all that is left are accessories, with a few leftover radios thrown in.

Open the page in Google Chrome and have it translate the page for you.

Buy a new radio. You can order one on Amazon and get it is a day or two. Baofengs are disposable (recycle please). The batteries are of very poor quality. Ordering from Russia is asking for trouble. I recently ordered and then had to return a German watch via DHL. It took a week each way. Who know what happens with Russia. These are cheap low quality radios. Might as well get a new one. You could also spend a few dollars more and get something good.
