• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

The UV-82 is just as bad as the UV-5R. It's basically the same radio with 2 PTT switches in a different case with a better speaker.

Absolutely false. UV-82 pass Part 90 certification. I've got several of them, including the GMRS and MURS variants, and they scope out nicely. You don't know what you're talking about and you should stop spreading FUD.

Certifications aren't really a pass or fail. You can have an authorization but not one for analog NFM and not necessarily for the power levels you intend to use it. In this case, the UV-82 has only been granted part 90 authorization for 5.41 khz maximum bandwidth and I guess that's why those radios sound like a bunch of baofeng.

Hi everyone I'm new to the group. And have a question about the Baofeng Walkie Talkie UV-5R5 has a backup radio as a volunteer firefighter. To communicate with the crew enroute to the call or on scene. Are these radios junk or compatible to the Motorola
I would go ask the system administrator or communications official about using any radio on their system, see where that takes you first...

radioddity advertised/claimed 10watt dual band ht for your viewing pleasure, I don't know if they truly produce 10 watts, I doubt it but who knows?

And don't get on my case about these CHICOM RADIOS either, I'm only the messenger and I don' have one plus I wouldn't use any CCR for anything because I have no need for them.

I only use my good old reliable GE/MACOM FPP M-PA'S for 2, 220, 440 and 900 MHZ, 2 ancient 10 and 6meter ge PE LOW BAND HT'S, all range's of moto fpp xs5k's, a few ht1250 220MHZ AND 4 P200/MT1000 LOWBANDERS on 29 and 52 MHZ.
radioddity should take all of this CRAP back. They are pure JUNK. Each and every model and NUMEROUS defects OUT OF THE BOX too. More problems with charger cradle going dead too. (Have (1) here that is steady RED. I've had it with this company. CHIRP is a joke. Yes, they are fair for a low cost ham transceiver ONLY. Probably a double conversion receiver, not triple with unbelievable intermod in metro NY. For scanner use, NO WAY. A Bearcat BC-125AT blows it away as far as no intermod, (RF) and only the drawback is Uniden's stupid battery life. This is the BEST non-digital conventional handheld out there period. Put a Diamond RH-77CA and wow, you're ready to rock and roll!! You need to dump those supplied Chinese batteries and get Panasonic Enloop and charge outside of the scanner but that is a pain in the ass too. I'm not touching on that subject now.
Hope everyone enjoyed last nights Super Bowl game, especially "half-time". lmao
