Can anyone clarify what's going on with BPD?
I thought that they had switched over to the msp truncking system, however I heard a dispatcher say that the msp channel was bpd2. Are they still using 855.2125 as there primary?
If so, when is CH2 used, / what is it used for?
Thanks

855.2125 D445 has been their primary frequency for a LONG time, and continues to be. The talkgroup on the MSP system is secondary and has been used as temporary primary during radio system issues. They have never used that for their primary operations otherwise.

Just a question and you may or may not know the answer, why won’t they change over the the MSP system like everyone else Since they have it on their radios, I used to go to cape every year and listen to the system. It’s just a curiosity question and not knocking them at all. I think they are the only ones as far as PD that’s not on the system. . Thanks

Scott being on da Sand Bar, might have more info but some other thoughts are:

a. The Cape Zone only has so many frequencies/talk paths - why tie up the heavily used Trunk with another Agency, till they double the paths when the P25 is brought east and south
b. The existing system - Conventional has the needed Remote RX sites to cover the villages for them at this time.

Been years since I ran trunker on the various Analog Zones, but there were times in the past of many Rejected connections due to limited channel assignments...

That's basically it; due to their call volume and the limited resources of this antiquated radio system (that was supposed to be replaced with the statewide P25 Phase II simulcast system in 2023, still pending, but hey, it's Massachusetts) they aren't using the system unless the conventional one breaks down.

There are still four departments on the cape that normally use conventional 800 MHz frequencies, Barnstable as mentioned, Yarmouth PD on 855.2375 D445, Sandwich Police on 855.1125 D445, and Falmouth on 855.4625 D445. As it stands now, Sandwich is using the MSP system due to what I believe are equipment issues, and Falmouth is using it while some changes are made to their existing system.

Who knows what will happen when/if the new radio system gets built out. Bill is right about occasional rejects from time to time, again due to limited resources on the system...which is now about 30 years old.

Not to change the subject but had a quick question about the “all TG” TGIDs listed under Barnstable county in the MSP trunk DB. Is it a patch between all the listed TGs in the description or should it be ATG as In announcement TG ?
