Barricaded Subject w/ X-ray Hostage in Sunnyvale CA

A BMA had a 6F warrant and barricated himself at the Motel 6. Swat has been called and three fire apparatus have been called to patrol duty (Crosstrained Public Safety) Mutual aid called from Mountain View and Santa Clara City PDs Sunnyvale's IC on Channel 1 482.9625

I noticed radio traffic at about 9:30 (setting up perimiter)

Suspect on 3rd floor. Keeps going thru different rooms. Believed to have made holes in the wall or gone over thru the ceiling.

Family members of suspect on scene to try to negotiate. Police land line thru hotel phones and Cell phone of suspect and hostage(female hostage kept answering a cell phone)

At one point I believe an Air Unit was on-scene (Unknown Agency)
About 10:45 SWAT was Relieving patrol officers

11:00 Started to change name assignments (Eagle Units, Tactical Unit, Tac Command)

Wish I could have heard more, had to leave work and no longer in range

Air 2 from San Jose PD was air support. The stand off ended at around 00:25 hrs. Alfonso came out first, then came the female. No shots fired or K-9s deployed. Unit teams included Robert, Paul, Nora, Sam, Lincoln Adam and for the first time i heard Sunnyvale's Eagle units come out.

What or who are Eagle Units?

It was interesting listening too. My first major incident I've listened too.

Just curious - what was the connection to an x-ray machine? And if I had 6 F's, I'd barricade myself too

X-Ray is refered to as "X" which means female.

Paul, Robert, Nora, are patrol names. Usually means a beat, or shift or defective. Each agency is different.

Sam units are usually sergeants. For this incident sam 5 was involved and was the on scene cordinator until IC (incident command was set sup)

Not sure who eagle units are( waiting a post from stealth guy)

this was another "low risk" "non violent" parolee

keep dumping them out of prison theres a REASON why the pos is in prison

leave them in there

Paul,Robert and Nora are shift squads. Sam is public safety team leaders (Lt.s) Eagles i am assuming the SWAT ids. this is the first time ive heard that.

I know this is an old thread...and it's probably already been covered, so I apologize in advance, but to clarify a little on the DPS team names:

Eagle are the SWAT entry/arrest team
Sierra are the SWAT sniper team


Henry are dayshift patrol units on the south side of town, supervised by Sam-1
John are dayshift patrol units on the north side (Sam-2)
Paul are early swing patrol units on the north side (Sam-3)
Nora are late swing patrol units on the south side (Sam-4)
Robert are grave shift units covering both sides of town (Sam-5)

Beat 1-3 are north
Beat 4-6 are south

The 1st number of the unit designation will be the beat assigned, 2nd number used to designate primary/secondary unit...but that's gone out the window it seems...3rd alpha is the patrol team

34P/51H/75R
10-60 units are beat units
70 units are CSI units
80 units are north/south (depending on team) rovers
90 units are K9's
