Hello everyone, new member here. I am considering buying a base antenna with a low profile. By low profile I mean it will not be terribly noticeable from the road which is 30 feet away. Before someone suggests it I don’t want a Scantenna, too big for me. I am looking for an antenna that is around 3 feet tall, and has a vertical mast similar to a standard car fm antenna or slightly bigger. I might be willing to have an antenna that is slightly bigger as long as the elements are small. I will be listening to CB, VHF High and 800 if it matters. I am including a picture with possible mounting locations circled in red, it will be on the side of a house on roof eaves. Ideally I would like to stay around $50 here but if you have something that fits the description but costs more, please post it. I appreciate you guys help.

Over here.
Well, as far as 800, I have a Decibel brand, model TDF6441A. It has 6 elements, I think, and has a total length of about 8 inches. The span of the longest elements is about 4-5 inches, with the shortest being 2-3 inches. I love it. However, I got mine on Ebay for a substantially lower price. I believe it has a pretty high price direct from the factory. It's made for TX and RX, 806-866MHz.

Wow, you're different from me. I love my antennas being HIGH profile! Mine are ranging from 30-70 feet, with 9 antennae currently on the tower.

Put up anything you like - any 3 foot antenna will work equally poorly on CB.

Now, as far as VHF-hi and 800, you can get mobile antennas designed for VHF-hi, UHF, 800 - Larsen makes a nice one on an NMO mount. But you'll need a ground sheet or radials at least 36" across for the antenna to work.

Think of making a parallel wire ground-plane out of very fine wire (the bandwidth of each wire will be very small, but you can use 30 wires and it'll still be invisible from the ground) taped or glued to the side of the house.

For what you are trying to do, I would use a mobile scanner antenna with either an L bracket that you screw in to the eve, or a mobile to base converter. Those solutions are all under $50, except for the cost of the coax jumper, lightning protector, grounding, etc. I have all that stuff as well if you want/need it.

Thanks,
Jeff

I was curious to see if anyone is using any of the options to see how it was working. I'm soon going to have to put something up at my new home.
