Im in the market for a base unit that is equal to the performance of the pro-433 but has alpha tags. I don't need digital or even trunking as my area is all conventional frequencies. Im open to all sugestions and I was waiting for the pro-160, but I'm not sure it's ever going to arrive. So I'm still looking..........?

If alpha tags are what you want, and you're leaning towards the Uniden, how about a BCT15 or an older BC780XLT? They both have tags and PL decoding. If you go Radio Shack you have the Pro 163, or you could pick up an older Pro 2055 or 2067. Since you you don't have to worry about trunking and rebanding any of the older scanners that detect PL tones and have alpha tagging would work.

The bct-15 is something I've been looking at and I believe it would suit my needs even if it is overkill for my area being conventional frequencies. I am leaning towards uniden made scanners and trying to stay away from GRE as they seem to have front end overload issues in my area. (lots of hills and mountains around me) So where can I get the best price on a new bct-15? I will seach ebay and see what i come up with in the mean time. Thank you for the replies.
