Base Station Antenna Photos

Group,

Im interested in seeing some photos of the larger base station antennas like the Celwave Stationmaster model for example (DB and Sinclair make similar models too). These are the big 20 to 23 foot long fiberglass whip antennas. I love seeing photos of other members setups here and am interested in seeing your antennas and how you have them setup.

Thanks in advance.

22 Foot Sitcks....

We are using those 22 foot sticks for all of our VHF Hi band base radios. The one where the antenna is on the larger tower doesn't "look" like the 22 ft stick because of the angle I took the picture, but it is...Steve/Gallia 911 :)

Rules or something...

Just curious but why did everyone remove their photos?

Doug
I tried to upload more pics one day a few months ago...

The system here told me I'd used my "aloted" space and it wouldn't take the upload...

So, I went through and removed a bunch of my old pics. THEN, it STILL wouldn't let me upload anything, so I gave up!!!!!

Common' Site Administrator, loosen up a bit let the group share their information with each other, why so much limitation to what us members can do in the way of sharing files, its not good to loose valuable content on a site such as this by forcing them to a limit and having to delete old content. Disk space isn't that expensive increase your hosting package if you have to.

Or you could open a photobucket account for free, upload the pics there and link to them here. That way, you wouldn't have to rely on RR's servers to host the pics for you.

Yes you 'could' do that, but I am sure most of us dont want to have to mess with that when its just easier to upload them directly to this site, and who says that Photo Bucket will be around longer than RR anyway, all the owner has to do is to allow more storage space.... I have nothing more to say on this issue and will be the last time I comment on this I am not going to let this become a flaming discussion, Ive said what i wanted to say.

lol... its much easier to upload them to photobucket, then its just copy-n-paste the code. And there is tons more options to upload them.

That said, back to the base antenna content!

I gave up trying to figure out how to post photos on this site. There aren't any instructions that take you through the process step by step. Once I get into the manage attachments menu and download an attachment I can't figure out how to insert it into a message. My photos are not on a site like photo bucket and using a URL is not an option. So I gave up for a different reason.

The sticky thread on this forum with instructions speaks to improving the photography used to make an attachment but does not include a step by step procedure of how to post one. I know that a lot of people obviously don't have a problem, but some of us are not that computer savvy. I posted my problems with this on the admin/help forum but no one has written good instructions in a place they can be looked up, such as a sticky.

Power Lines

burner50 In your pic it looks like your j-pole is only a few feet from your power lines. That is very dangerous. Other then that nice pic gotta love the home brew stuff.

The angle is weird or something, Its not as close as it looks, If it falls the Telco and CATV drops will deflect it away from the power lines (which are insulated anyway), And the railing that it is bracketed to is in the way, if it falls, it will fall towards the camera.

I noticed you're not a "Premium Subscriber." Without financial support from the members, where would he get the money to "allow more storage space?" It's easier for some to complain about things instead of just finding a viable secondary option.

You took the words right out of my mouth. This is by far the premiere site for scanner related information and I visit it many times a day. I certainly get my monies worth out of my donation and will continue to support it. The way I look at it, if someone is not happy on how this site is run...... they should start their own... :)

I can save BW by referring you to post #37 on this page:

http://www.radioreference.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3704&page=2

This is an old picture of my tower with a DB Products 4-bay VHF dipole array, a Maxrad version, and a DB Products 8-bay UHF array with all the elements on one side of the mast for 12dBd gain. These commercial antennas cover very wide chunks of the VHF and UHF bands with lots more gain than any scanner specific antenna.
The other antennas have been moved around a bit and the large KMA-4113 horizontal log periodic near the top of the tower will be for sale soon.
