Basement Reception Problem

Hello:

I have looked threw the forum and I did not find a answer to my question. My question is I am using a Uniden Bearcat 250D in my basement. I get “Ok” reception but I am looking to get County Hotline and just better reception over all. Since I live in the basement I am sure that has something to do with it,

I am looking for an antenna that I can mount on my roof and run it to the basement to my scanner that will do the job. I want to be able to monitor “39.46000 / 154.10000 / 154.04000 857.26250” range. Can someone tell me what antenna would do the job? Also where I might be able to buy it online.

What state are you in to be listening to 39.46?

That used to be the low band point to point freqency in my area here in Illinois.

About the antenna,The RS Discone will do just fine for you,About the 800mhz reception,That depends on how far you are located from the tower.

I currently use a Discone antenna (Comet DS150S) for the same purpose with good result.
It's not what I call a small antenna at about 4~5 feet tall but if your intent is to put it on the roof it doesn't matter.
