Hello all! I'm 19 and pretty new to all this radio stuff. I got into it by a family member of mine who is a legend at radio stuff and has been doing it for around 60 years, and he tells me all these cool things and gifts me all these cool devices but i don't fully know how these things work and after hours of searching online, i still don't know all of it.

I know things like SDR, CW and things like that but i never speak on there because while he has a license and can do morse code in multiple languages, i don't have/can't do either (Because it's illegal so i just listen to whatever i know. Though i am learning morse code and trying to get a license but i'd like to be more experienced first) so despite this really fancy equipment i have that he gave me or lets me use. I just stick to the more basic stations or sometimes listening to pirates speaking on satellites, submarines on radar and satellites too- or number stations when i'm bored. (a lot of these machines are either decades old or top notch equipment by the looks of it. However of course, the top notch equipment stays with him understandably haha). I ask him to teach me these things but just talks in more things i don't understand, especially with radar too.

All i ask is that someone can just teach me very important basics on radios, frequencies and maybe radar too. I trust you people more than a half correct google search and maybe you people can give me sites or people to find my answers. Thank you!

I also would like to learn more about VLF, ELF, EHF
