I recently picked up the Pro-95 and have noticed that the batteries are lasting significantly longer than with my Pro-96. Has anyone else noticed anything comprable? I use the same battery pack with both radios; RS NiMh 2000 mAh rechargeables. I am using the 95 to monitor the Charlotte TRS exclusively and the 96 is mainly for York County VHF conventional freqs until I get things realigned. Any thoughts or input?

You can get 2500 mha batteries at walmart for $10.00 + tax. This is a lot cheaper than Radio Shack. I get over 24 hours in my 95 + 96 with a good charge.

APCO 25

With the PRO-96 you can listen to APCO 25 digital and with the PRO-95 you can't. The APCO 25 digital is my guess why the batteries drain faster in the PRO-96. In uniden radios I believe the card can be turn off to save power.

That's the reason why. The digital takes more power than an analog scanner. I'm sure in time the design will improve.
