Am I stuck trying to buy a whole new shell for my 100, or can I merely try to find the clip that snaps from the front of the case to hold the battery door in place?

I havn't had any problems with mine...
But I'm thinking about ordering one of Jon's anyway... I like his design better...
I'll swap it out and keep the original as a spare,,,

Here's a good short video on how to change the latch out:

I ordered 2 original latches from this site (discounted to $9 each right now):

Uniden GNBZ4D8765A Battery Latch

I also ordered 2 SDS100 Accessories: SDS100 Carbon Fiber Battery Clip from this site ($10 each)

PayPal Payments

I also decide to order 2 replacement Battery Doors from this site ($11 each):

I just have a funny feeling the door or latch will break again about a year from now. My original latch lasted about 14 months.

Bad news on Uniden part GNBZ4D8765A. It an original Uniden Part, but only fits the Uniden MHS75 Waterproof Handheld 2-Way radio. It's about 1/8 of an inch shorter than the one of the SDS100.

I'm curious if anyone has the original part number of the latch to the SDS100?

I found a simpler solution. After seeing this post by jcarter99

I removed one of the clips to an ACCO Small Binder Clips (3/4 inch binder clip) and bent the top (1/8 of an inch) with a pair of needle nose pliers.

This bent clip fits perfectly in the 2 post holes for the original battery latch.

It's also much stronger than the original plastic clip and is flexible and tight.

Thanks. I tried to obtain this part from Uniden and was told this is now an internal part and that I would have to send my SDS100 to Uniden to get it repaired for around $90. :(

I would be very curious to hear from our Uniden representative as to why Uniden offers replacement Battery Latches for their portable Marine radios, but not for the SDS100. The 2 parts are almost 100% identical. The only difference is the one for the Marine radios is about 1/8 inch shorter.
