Any ideas out there on how to create the 13.8v DC, 750ma power required to run a Bearcat scanner during a power outage, without using an automotive or wet cell battery,, preferably using AA, C or D batteries ?
this works on 9 AAs and a lighter plug it's well made and will last. or you could buy/make a d cell NIMH pack with a lighter plug on it. definitely would work best with good NIMH AAs and cost effective
Why not just use a small lawn mower battery with a trickle charger? Should give you power for days. Maybe even run the radio off it full time. The trickle charger will keep it charged as long as you have AC and you won't have to unplug/plug anything when an outage hits unexpectedly.
