battery question

I have a Uniden SC 180 and my battery doesn't stay charged long these days. It holds a BP-180 Nickel-Cadium DC 4.8v 800mAh. I was wondering if there is an adapter to use so you can use regular AA rechargable batteries or if not where can I get a replacement battery? Couldn't find one with the wires coming out to plug into the scanner (don't know what they are called) on Ebay. Thank you.
