might be thinking of upgrading to the SDS100 from my 436. Am able to use an external battery to run over 24 hours if needed on my 436. Can the SDS100 run on an external battery? If there is a thread already on this, please post a link. Thanks.
Between the current battery on the SDS100 with no option for AA batteries and the cold solder joint for antenna issues, been holding back. But more simulcast towers are popping up causing reception issues. Time to upgrade. Is the cable I use for the 436 to connect to the external battery the same?

In my personal experience since late 2018…you can run the SDS 100 full time via a A/C 120 volt home power outlet or via any externally rechargeable battery pack using the Micro USB port. It’s the port just above the main charging port. Been running my SDS 100 “like a desk top” on the micro USB port since 2018 and the battery to date still holds a full charge. My SDS100 had the small battery at launch but now has the large "now normal" battery that comes with the SDS100 to date.
Of course take note of the "standard" industry disclaimers...lithium ION batteries have a limited lifetime recharge cycle of about 500 "zero to full" time charges. So your milage may vary... Mines still holding out just fine providing 7 1/2 or so hours of run time on the battery.
