• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Wondering if anyone has had this with the Power Products high capacity APX 6/7/8000 battery?
So I just noticed right now that the impres vehicle charger is flashing red for a few seconds and then flashing orange/green for a second or two and then going back to flashing red again. This cycle continues on without resolution. Never had this issue until today. I just got the battery brand new but it has a date code of 08/24. The impres vehicle charger is brand new as well and even swapped it with an older one and still having the same issue. Confusing part is, the desktop charger is charging the same battery with zero issues. Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated. Also I tried to upload a video for reference of what’s happening but I cannot.

I bought a Power Products battery brand new from Wiscomm for my APX8000. Put the battery in the Impress charger when I first got it overnight - went to use it the next day for my shift and all was great. Until it hit around 50% then went right to flashing red / low battery chirp. I tried to recondition this battery many times and every single time it would do the same thing ( as soon as it hit around 50% - immediate low battery chirp / flashing red light ).

This was the short ultra high capacity 4100MAH ( or something similar ) model. Never again will I buy from Power Products for an APX radio. Shameful too since they are known for good quality batteries.

Yes that’s where I bought my battery from too. And it’s the same battery you had issues with too. I’m hoping this issue resolves itself or someone has ideas cuz they ain’t cheap. Plus I have the same type of high capacity but for the APX4000 and I’m hoping that doesn’t take a dump on me in this weird way like my 8000 has.

Which charger are you using? I've had both PP and other aftermarket APX batteries with "impostor" IMPRES chips act that way, but in the latest gen IMPRES 2 SUC and MUCs they charge fine. Something makes me think the older IMPRES chargers don't like these "impostor" chips in these aftermarket batteries.

I’ll have to look for the model number when I get back to the station but it’s a brand new Impres charger that I just installed yesterday in place of an older Impres charger that was doing the same thing. In fact, I’ll get ya both model numbers.

For what it’s worth when I had that Power Products battery and it was acting like that ( hitting 50% then going to low battery ) - I was using a Gen 1 Impres charger ( the older WPLN4114 with the APX adaptor cup ). So that could’ve been my issue. Not sure as I have long since returned that battery. But I also now have a proper Impres 2 NNTN8860 in my arsenal too so who knows if that would make that battery work properly.

Power Products has a pretty good warranty for their products. Reach out to them and see of maybe they will warranty your battery.
