• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

P25 is 9600. Motorola Type II is 3600. Phase II has the same control channel as a Phase I. XTS will support both. But XTS can't due TDMA audio so the channels themselves would have to be set to fall back to FDMA.

Before you even attempt to program a radio for your your system you need to catch up on a lot of reading. If at all possible have your system admin program the radio but if you must do it your self you will need to know the band plan, site frequencies, site numbers, RFSS numbers, your authorized radio ID and most importantly have a way to obtain the system key for your trunked system. There are people on the forums such as myself that will help you as far as I can but I cannot provide a system key and that is necessary for programming a trunked radio system and if they do go phase 2 in the future you will need at the very least a APX radio with a proper flash for phase 2 TDMA. I would stick to what your dept issues you but if you really want your own radio you have a lot to consider also if encryption is used you will a need a system admin to load those keys into your radio as there is no other way to obtain them. You don't sound very familiar with programming radios and there is a lot to learn in order to do it correctly.

Since it’s for your job, wouldn’t they give you the tools you need to properly do your job? All the years I worked in the parts department of a GM dealer, they gave me the computer work station I needed to look up parts. I didn’t have to buy my own. Wouldn’t they just hand you the radio you need for your job? Would a cop have to buy his own patrol car, & radio to do his job?
