Does anyone in the Tampa Bay area monitor the bay News 9 traffic Copter,
They used to be on 452 Frequency, but have gone quiet.

Bay News 9 newsroom and live trucks are now using MOTOTRBO so I'd imagine Sky 9 has done the same.

thank you
Its to bad. They actually were on top of a lot of news as well as traffic situations, and were fun to listen to.

Do you know the frequency? If it was a local radio shop, then they probably migrated to a TRBO system. If I can get a frequency, then I will decode the TRBO to see if it is them. The wide area TRBO system that I am familiar with are:

BCI Communications- Capacity Plus in Downtown Tampa
TBA Communications-Linked Capacity Plus covering Tampa, Oldsmar, St Pete
Mobile-One Communications- Capacity Plus at I-4 and I-75

Good luck! TT

BN9 helicopter (Total Traffic Network)

Sorry guys, but they (TTN Helo) are now on Fla. Wide NXDN Trunk System. (Kenwood Trunking)
*They are also able to go to other markets and communicate with their Producers for Orlando and Miami.

Part 74 restrict the use of TDMA for any "BA" (broadcast Aux.)

TV-28 got a cease order from the FCC when they put TRBO up on their
tower and in their trucks, had to get a special authorization to continue for one year.
Not sure if they went back to Analog.

BayNews 9 to my knowledge is using cellphones to their remote trunks.
(installed the base radio to the helo at BN9 and asked about their news crews)

TBA system is also linked to Lakeland.

You're right, it was NXDN not MOTOTRBO. Don't know why I said that.

I was in their newsroom a couple weeks ago and saw a business card next to the radio. I don't remember who it was but it definitely wasn't any of the big three shops in the area.

The radio next to Kim or the "HOTLINE" desk where all the scanners are located, that was mine.
That radio is on the Florida Wide NXDN Network, Tampa Site.

What are you refering to when you say ENC?

looks like even media now wants to do the dreaded "ENC" hobby is dying rapidly

dreaded encode? or encryption?
And no, BN9 isnot encrypted. They are using NXDN trunking Type C. I listen to them sometimes,
since I service them, nothing really hot other than listen to the producers talk to the helo about tampa
traffic. NEXT EVENT PLEASE!

bolo on some thing happening in North Florida soon.

So, can you share the frequency that they are on. Can a digital scanner receive them ?

I'll let Evan's - KD4EFM tell you the frequency but I'll be honest none of the digital scanner out on the market today can listen to NXDN. Only a Kenwood NXDN handheld or mobile can listen to the news crew if you know the information and etc.

You can only decoded NXDN trunking if the radio is associated. You can not decoded with a conventional NXDN radio. Data streams are different.
