bc 142xl help

is a bc 142xl a digital or analog scanner or is it trunk tracking ,, i am confused because my uncle gets the opp with it and they are digital and i dont think it is ,, is there a big diffrents between a bc 142xl and a pro 2045 thanks all

It doesn't trunk, and it isn't digital. It is possible to hear some analog trunked frequencies on a non-trunking analog scanner, but it would not be very reliable. Definitely not digital.

The 2045 has a lot more channels(200 vs 10) and features such as weather alert, priority, search, CTCSS tones, etc, but it does not appear to receive anything different that the 142 except Aircraft and 800mhz.
