I've been entering in the talkgroup ID's just as New Group.
I select the System, then hit enter.
Then I go to Edit Group, and hit enter, go to new Group, and enter the group name & TGID.

The problem that I am encountering is that every time I do this my scanner will only take's about 12-15 TGID names/ID's then run's out of memory. When I check the amount of memory used under See Scanner Info, I have only used about 14%.

I must be entering the TG names & TGID's in the wrong place or something since just under one county here (LA County) there are allot of Talk groups w/ID's to enter. . How can I enter a large number of TGID's w/names under one System without running out of memory. . can anyone help me with what I must be doing wong ?

And, yes I am entering these in manually since my Mac won't run any of the scanner software program's.

Just like it is possible to have multiple groups in a system, it is possible to have multiple TGIDs in a group. The manual does not make it clear that an existing group may be selected, it is not always necessary to create a new group. This allows all the Sheriff's TGIDs to be in one group, etc.

Have you tried the BC 246T Control & Programming Tool yet? If so, what is your opinion?

Have you tried BC 246T Control & Programming Tool? I haven't used it, but it claims to support the Mac.

Thank you jastx for the info, yes I did try this program it wouldn't work for my Mac. When I took that page up to the Apple store they said it would only work on the Apples that have the new pentium proccessor.

I will try placing more TGID'd with their names under one group and see if I can make it work. I can't seem to find it in the manual. Thanks for the info. . I'll give it a try.

How did it not work for your Mac? Was there an error message?

The program is written in Tcl/Tk, which is a scripting language. The Tcl/Tk interpreter has been ported to many operating systems, including both flavors of Mac OS. If it's not installed on your computer, I would suggest searching for "Tcl/Tk mac".

It's very well hidden in the second-to-last paragraph on page 57, "To program another channel within the same group..." That sentence is also repeated in the EDACS and LTR sections.

I run Linux on my personal boxes and don't really want to run W$ programs on them, so I understand the situation. I agree with nonposter and would invest a little more time trying to make it run.
