Okay, Say I am in system 1 group 1 in hold mode, and I want to go to group 7. There are 50 channels in group 1, 50 in group 2, 50 in group 3, ect.... Is there an easy way of going through the groups without having to scroll through all 300 channels? Like skipping from group to group with only one scroll?

While holding the Func button, rotate the knob.

That rotates systems, not groups.

You're right, I missed it was Groups you're talking about. Try this instead:

Press FUNC + Rcl (number 7) that will put you on the System selection, press Enter on the system in question and it'll take you to the Groups for that system. Now rotate to find the Group you want and press Enter again. Further more, rotate knob again to scroll through the channels and press Enter again to select.

I knew about that, I guess that would be the easiest way anyway. I guess there is no way to switch from group to group. Maybe Uniden could add that to the 396T?

If you knew all these ways to do this, perhaps you could've post them and save us some time.... BTW, You're welcome....

But you ARE switching or "skipping" from group to group with that procedure and it only takes a couple of seconds!

Take the example you provided; you're on hold on System 1, Group 1 and want to go to Group 7 of the same System. So you do this:

1. Press Func + Rcl
2. Press Enter
3. Rotate knob to Group 7

That's it!

There's two ways I could think of "maybe" improving that:

1. To have the "Func + Rotate" command scroll through the Groups right away instead of Systems but unless you make that selectable (Systems vs Groups) then you'll have people complaining that it takes too long to go from one system to another.

or

2. When you press the Func + Rcl command, have the radio prompt for:

System? (Press 1 here) and then

Group? (Press 7 here)

P.S. We could also have Uniden go back to the old system of Banks/Channels and that way we'll have a way to direct dial a bank or a channel.

I like the way the scanner is now.

BTW- I'm not complaining, I can use the Func RCL. I was just wondering if there was a way.
