Bc 246t question

Ok here is my problem.
When I put the same talkgroup id into different groups on the same system when in scan mode it always seems to default to where I have it in group1. Is there a way to fix this? Am I doing something wrong?
The reason I want to do this is to place our cnty fire disp talkgroup id in each group so that as the scanner is in scan it will hear the disp in each group....the 246t does not have priorty scan when trunktracking wish it did sigh!

I might be wrong but I don't think that trunk ID Scanning works like that.

Unlike frequency scanning which "listens" to one freq at a time, the trunk system "listens" for an ID to be transmitted and when it "hears" one, compares it against the list of IDs that you want to listen to. If it is on the list, it opens the squelch. If not, it listens for the next ID. Since the entire list is searched for a match when an ID is received, it won't matter whether you list your fire disp once or a hundred times.

So what you're doing is not going to improve or reduce your chances of hitting on your fire disp.

Is is my solution to this problem...
After playing with this new scanner I discovered that you can add as many duplicate talkgroup ids as you want however it will only scan the first duplicate the scanner sees. I used to like to place fd disp into all the scanner banks so that eg while scanning psco I could also catch the fd disp....the 246t does not offer priorty scan in trunking mode so here is what I did to solve the problem...
Set up a group with only whatever priorty tgs you wantI named mine fire dispatch and placed only the fire disp talkgroup id in that group! Attach a qiuck key to it....Presto problem solved you can select or deselect that group at will while scanning any other groups!!
This was driving me nuts thought I would pass it along to others!

While I'm not 100% absolutely bet your life sure about this, I believe the 396T improves on the 246T by adding priority for trunked scanning TGs. Not sure about that, perhaps I should have read the manual more thoroughly but I seem to recall reading it either there or here in a forum posting.

Someone else will probably chime in on this if I'm wrong.

That's not how it works... It just rechecks for that particular ID before moving on.
