Freescan returns a message that the scanner is not recognized. I've read everything I can find regarding Freescan, reverified my port setting, but still no communucation with the unit. What small detail am I over looking?
Several possibilities here, but let's eliminate the obvious - how are you connecting the scanner to the PC? If you are using a USB-serial cable, you must load up the drivers before connecting the cable. In addition you should check Device Manager to see whether the COM port the drivers allocated is really available. This topic is discussed here...
Mike, thanks so much for your suggestions which made me rethink it everything. As it turns out either I can't read or my old time PC thinking got in the way. What I did was to use the slave / master option clone selection. I did not need to do, as you know.
This radio has this boy fairly steep learning curve at first. Whew, I made it a bit further up the hill. Now the fun begins.
Jim, the links in this article are set up for folks just getting started with the DMA radios. At the bottom are the links for the Easier to Read guides- don't even think of using the Uniden produced mess.
No matter what software you use, you really need to understand how DMA works before you get started. On that same note, be sure to back up your current config before playing around. That way you haven't lost your starting point...Mike
Right on the money.. again. I spent a fair portion of my work day (self employed thankfully) pouring over that subject and creating a worksheet to plan out my systems.
