I have found the 'stock antenna' which comes with this scanner is very very elementry and would like to have a better one. The 'stock antenna' has a very flimsey connector and I am sure there is a much better one out there but don't know where to look. Can someone help me wth this?

Thanks for the opportunity to post.

I have the same problem with a radio shack scanner...I think I will either build an antenna or buy one that has a cable lead to the radio.

Those old Uniden scanners usually had an external socket for an FM car radio Motorola plug, If so, then this might be what you want.: http://www.radioshack.com/product/i...Type/Scanner/HAM&fbc=1&parentPage=family Update: I just looked at what I believe is the manual: http://www.uniden.com/pdf/BC350Aom.pdf, and it shows a BNC connector and not a motorola socket on page 10. If that is the case, you may also need one of these: http://www.radioshack.com/product/i...torola+plug&kwCatId=2032058&parentPage=search

I doubt his 350 is that old, all I have ever seen have regular BNC connectors.

If the BNC is installed right, there will still be a little wiggle, just how it fits on the connector. The antenna you need depends on what you want to listen to and how.

If you want to listen to local fire departments on VHF and UHF in your car, that would require something different then if you wanted the best base antenna for hearing the highway patrol on their low band frequencies (42mhz).

So, what do you want to listen to and do you want a base or mobile antenna?
