well i finally broke down a got a dig scanner a bc785 1000 channel radio and now i need help programing the birmingham trs into the unit can some one plzzzzzzz help me and tell me what to do to listen to birmingham i got jefferson county and vestavia programed in and it works fine but all i need to do is put b'ham into it so plzz help thanks

If I may suggest, scroll back to some of the pages w/ chatter on this new system.

I want to recall that Birmingham's new system is a 9600-baud system. If I am correct, then only certain scanners will support that.

Radio Shack's Pro96 handheld & Pro2096 base/mobile plus Uniden's 796D - base/mobile, and 296D handheld are capable of supporting 9600 baud systems.

Your 785D can trunk 3600 baud systems if the digital card is added. Calhoun Co / Anniston and Opelika are 3600 baud systems.

No, the B'Ham TRS is a 3600 Baud system. As for medic, you have add the 800 frequencies in your scanner and turn on the card. Once you hear some digital communications, then begin putting in the talkgroups. This site provides you with all the information needed to program your scanner. But you have to do the hard work of setting it up and programming. And if you're without a manual, www.uniden.com has the manuals in PDF format.

I appreciate you clarifying that Rich. However, if you read my text, you'll see that I said, 3600 baud system. That would make it a mixed system if digital modulation is involved. I was clarifying the other gentleman who thought the B'Ham system was a 9600 baud, making it a true digital system.
I'm not trying to be anal about this, but I'm finding people having the mindset to want to make comments just to make themselves feel smarter than the rest. And I'm ok with that. But when you correct someone, please read the comments thoroughly, and then voice your opinion. And don't voice your opinion to show that you have a "One Up" on another.

I'm sorry if I responded too harshly to one's message. But I assure you that my response is within reason and is based on these experiences. Rich, I would like to apologize to you, personally. You didn't deserve my response. But please understand that I'm basing my response on people who are caught up in wanting to be right all the time. And since I'm the one apologizing a great majority of the time, to level out some of the many ego tripping individuals who roam this site, I finally got it right, just to be told that I'm wrong. Now I know this is way off subject and I shouldn't be responding to Crashcrew's quote. But I felt that Rich deserved a formal apology, for all to see.

Gosh folks. I didn't mean to start something I would regret. No problem guys. I did fail to read the "fine print" I went too fast for sure. The mind was in motion before I got my fingers stopped.
