BC 785 XLT Need some help finding a Scanner

I live right next to Camp Bullis in San Antonio and wondered what they are all talking about over there and I know the San Antonio went to a Trunk sysem a few years ago. I am from California and have a radio shack scanner there for years until it blew up ( literaly dont ask how because I do not know but my room was full of smoke and smelt like plastic).....Anyways I am looking at getting my ham soon and unloading the CB. Do you guys like this radio? I already bid on it so I may be stuck but I have been doing research on this modle and its not a bad price for it....

I need some help understanding what all this means, and if a normal scanner can pick it up. It says type 2...but then there is other stuff to it. Can someone help me with reading the charts and what it all means thanks...

I am making a jump from a 1980's scanner, to the new things and its a learning curve ( the one that blew up was a 03 scanner just never got a new one....Brought back the 80's LOL)

The key to what the San Antonio listing is saying is PRO VOICE. There is no scanner made that can listen to a Pro Voice system. Not even the new expensive digitals. Provoice is protected by patents that keep it from being duplicated in a scanner.

Some groups, non-police do come up in analog mode, but frankly it is not worth the time to listen. If you go to the Texas forum you will see several listings about the San Antonio System. I live up in New Braunfels and scanners work good up here.

Thanks...Maybe thats why I could not really figure out some of the stuff. This makes me really disappointed to be honest. Is there anyway to listen in on the Military Bases in the area? SmartZone or Smart voice or something is the system they are using...

yes I listen to Randolph on their digital system, but the police are usually scrambled. check the database and it has them isted. It is the RR database at the top of the screen.
