As you can see, the display is still the same size as the 780 but there's 4 basic lines of info instead of all the little blips and indicators the 780 had. At first I too didn't like the display because I was so used to the 780, but the 785/796 display does grow on you after a while. I'm so used to it that the old 780 display looks too busy now. And in a mobile environment, I find the 785 display much easier to read at a glance because there's not so much to sort thru and everything is the same size.
