We received my GPS kit and have not installed yet got questions---#1 I have components connected as the bottom pix using for a 436 hand held using the 4 pin mini micro end. Will it charge also when the scanner is on or off. or do you charge as if you didn't have gps plugged in? #2 I assuming you have to set your 436 scanner 4800bps? #3 the one cable 4 pin usb will fit a 396xt, is this kit compatible with a 396xt?

Handheld scanners (BCD436HP, BCD396T and XT, BC346) Connect the GPS Receiver to the Adapter Box with the grey Phone Cable, then use the Handheld Scanner Cable between the Adapter Box and the GPS Port on the right side of the HomePatrol scanner. This will NOT power the scanner.

I just received a BC-SGPS kit to use with my SDS100. I've got the wiring figured out from the instructions, but where is the best place to put the little GPS receiver box on the dashboard? Center - left - right...or does it matter. The vehicle is a 2022 Subaru Crosstrek with all kinds of electronics, but as long as I don't obscure the cameras view with anything, that should be fine. Hopefully Uniden will come up with a unit that is a little more...streamlined...in the future. This is a lot of cable and connections to use GPS.

Another question is setting the range for GPS. Some videos out there state 30 - 50 miles. A couple used zero. I guess that would be if you want signals that are REALLY close. I'll be traveling in KS, MO, IA & NE, so I'm thinking maybe 15 miles to pick up signals near the highways being traveled.

Thanks for your time.
