I just purchased a BCT15 & d/l’d BC tool. Do I understand this correctly that if I D/L the database from RR into the software in will program my county/radio? I live in Melbourne, Fl Brevard Cnty. EDACS system. This is the first scanner I’ve purchased in 10 or so years and to say the least I am OVERWHELEMED! My last scanner was a BC895XLT. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks,
Keith

You will, assuming that system isn't using ProVoice or OpenSky (both of which are not monitorable by any scanner). However before you jump, I'd strongly suggest doing some reading. Our main web server is giving Lindsay fits at the moment, so I'd wait until the morning - but our wiki has extensive help on understanding the new DMA radios. In the blue toolbar under the logo, float your mouse over wiki then click on FAQs . The link you want to read about is the 'Uniden DMA FAQ'. At the bottom of that article is the link to the Easier to Read manual for the BCT15. Download it - it's a good place to begin.

Forget the word 'banks' you must - in terms of 'systems', 'sites' and 'groups' you must think (whoops, got Star Wars in the background...). Doing that will take some doing, but once done (it took me awhile to get it too), you will find there's a fair amount of flexibility here. Don't just jump into programming - it will only confuse you more.

You might also go to the Florida forum and ask if someone has a UASD or BCtool file for your area. Sometimes that's an easier way to get started. Do download the Easier to Read manual, though.

Thanks for the tip on the Fl forum. I have been reading the easier to read manual, it’s still a lot to absorb. After doing more reading I decided to D/L Freescan. It seems to be a bit more straight forward and user friendly than bc tool. So I think I’ll give that a shot.
Thanks,
Keith
