I live in the st Charles mo area and looking to scan with something vheap can I scan this with the bc125at

If that is the only thing you want to listen to, the BC125AT would work fine. It's a very good analog scanner.

The BC125AT will receive that. It looks like you will hear nothing but fire dispatch. Most of the St Charles Co activity is on the SLATER P25 trunked system. The site is simulcast. The SDS100 and SDS200 scanners are the only ones specifically designed to receive simulcast sites. Any other P25 Phase 1 or Phase 1 & 2 capable scanners may or may not work depending upon your location. P25 is digital. The BC125AT is for analog conventional frequencies only. It does not trunk. It will not work with the SLATER system.

How do I know if that channel still exists before I buy the scanner

Click on Report and request that your thread be moved to the Missouri forum. The members there will be better equipped to answer that question.

its just a pain when it dies and I have to redo the
lock out channels I have. oh well
When you lockout a channel, press L/O twice for a permanent lockout. It will stay locked out until you unlock it.
