15 or so years too late buddy. In the US It is illegal to monitor the Analog Cellphone band of roughly 869-894Mhz. Not that there is much left there these days anyway. Besides, there are 100 other things to listen to on a scanner that are alot more interesting and legal.

I thought most cell, went digital? maybe I'm wrong!

You are correct.
There is a minority of analog cell systems left in certain areas of the US but most have converted over to digital years ago. And it is still illegal to monitor the itty-bitty analog that is left.

yeah, I get a kick out of it on ebay with some of the prices people are wanting for the older radios that were once, cell capable when there is lots of better offers there for trunking scanners for the same money, or less.

It's not capable without a modification. I used to monitor analog cell with it by using the IF offset (worked really well!).

But really. Where are you gonna hear analog?

Not much of a consequence but you can try the 46Mhz band for perhaps a few remaining cordless phones in that band. Most went to other parts of the spectrum years ago, but, these oldies have much better range.
