BC244CLT Not picking up anything

Hello, I am new here and this is my first post. I have a Uniden BC244CLT that I got handed down to me. It has been sitting in the closet for a few years and I decided to get it out and set it up. I found my local frequencies and programmed them in but I have yet to hear anything out of it. The only thing I have heard is the weather (WX) that. Seems to work just fine. What am I doing wrong? Is it outdated and can't get signals ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
