BC245XLT locked out

My BC 245 is forever stuck - the keypad is frozen and "lock-out" key flashes in the lower right-hand corner of the display. I have cleaned the contacts and replaced the battery. Any thoughts :?:

Hold the E down until it beeps, you are in control mode.
