Had the center pin of the power jack break off. Was wondering if anyone knows
if I can hardwire my car adaptor to the battery terminal of the radio? I would cut
off the battery leaving the module plugged in and wire to positive and negative.

Not a good idea as the battery pack only puts out 4.6 volts vs the 13.8 that you would get from your car adapter. Might be better off replacing the jack, or pulling the jack and going into the scanner there since that jack is expecting 12-14 volts anyway.

Thanks for the advice. I really didn't want to delve into the inside of the radio
but will give it a try.
