Soooooo am I the only one whose still on back-order for a BC246T?, I've been on back-order since the 22nd. I purchased mine from http://www.durhamradio.ca. I even called them today and they said some came in but the few that came in were for the other people on back order ahead of me. Does anyone know how frequently Uniden ships to its suppliers?

If you can't wait, call around and find out who has them in stock. When you find one, order it, and then call Durham Radio and cancel your order with them.

from what I hear, they suppliers only get a shipment once a month, so it'll be another month before you get another chance, if you aren't too far down the list. I would definately find another dealer and cancel my order. Try lee electronics or bearcatscanner.com. Good prices there. Also scannermaster.com.

Actually I found another Canadian dealer http://www.radioworld.ca they have BC246Ts for $399 and they have a price match, "will match or beat any price that is advertised at a lower price from an Authorized Canadian Dealer". It also says "(item must be in stock at competitor at time of request)." does that mean the other place must have it in stock before I price match?

I guess that another thing to think of is that you being in another province you will only pay the price advertised and the GST. Not the Ontario Prov tax, so it should be about $373. Canadian. That sounds nice but for the free shipping you wil have to have it sent slow Canada Post way :roll: I don't think I would like to spend that kind of money and wait 7 to 10 days for delivery. If you have it sent overnight express it will still be around $4oo, my guess.
Plus if you wait for Durham, they won't have the next batch till the end of March I have heard

But thats the thing, DurhamRadio doesn't have them....I called them today and asked, they said that some did come in but they only filled the first few on back-order (I'm around number 50 on the list...) so I guess my choices are pay $399.99($427.99 with tax included) plus the $27 for quick shipping ($454.99 being the total), Orrrrrrr wait another month for it and stay with the $386 that its going to cost me from DurhamRadio.

Yes I do remember you telling me that but the thing is DurhamRadio doesn't have the BC246T in stock so price matching is out of the question. And I dunno if DurhamRadio would charge me because I paid with a credit card and they told me that there is no charge to the credit card until the day the scanner is shipped. Charges take 3 days to show up on the card, and the scanner takes 3 days to get here so I check my balance on the net every morning because the day the charge is on my card is the same day it will arrive (if it ever will). But anyway I'm going to call RadioWorld this morning and see if they have it in stock, if they do I'll price it out and give DurhamRadio a call again and tell them to cancel. No one seems to know anything about things there, they seem so confused. Like the day I made my order I had to call back to get a total, they totally forgot that. Then I called again to add an antenna to my order and the guy goes "yeah I dunno if we have any of those in stock, my computer says I have one but I'm not sure so don't your hopes up but I'll see what I can do"

A guy in Winnipeg just got one earlier this week from Scanners Unlimited going the route I mentioned above. He said that he figures his total cost will be about $415 Canadian. He got the radio in less than 24 hrs also.
There is also other dealers down in the States that would be happy to deal with you. Take a look at this forum for some ideas of different dealers.

Thats great you ordered by CC because yes you are not charged as of yet. Just call Radio World and who ever picks up the phone just order the 246T, and you want it for $349.00. He may want proof, so make him aware of the advertised price on Durhams website. They can look it up while your on the phone with the sales guy, they do have internet. Get it shipped via Canada Parcel Post (which is thier FREE offer), and yer done!!
You'll get it by Friday next week Mark, cause they'll probably ship it Monday.
Future purchases deal with Radio World instead. I've ordered a few radio's from them including my 246, and have had absolutely no problems. It sounds like Durham is outright lying to you. When you first ordered this radio you were number 50 in the list of 200, now after supposedly receiving a shipment you are still around 50 on that list. How many did they order?....two?....three? :lol:
I cannot for the life of me see that Durham has 200 back orders for this radio. They are a Canadian store, so no level minded American is going to order from there. I can't see Europeans ordering a scanner from oversees when thay can get it from dealers that are at least in thier own continent. That just leaves Canadians left. The majority of those 200 orders must be Canadian orders. If there was actually around 200 Canadians "In Limbo", don't you think there would be a HUGE outcry of other Canadians on this forum wondering "What's up with Durham?".
Trust me go with Radio World. If you do end up ordering from the States, go with Scanners Unlimited. I have ordered radios from there with excellent, and prompt service. Other Candaians on this forum have ordered from there as well with the same praises. Just pray it doesn't come UPS.

Also remember that after waiting another month that you still might not get the radio on that shipment since you are so far down the list.

Oh man I feel for ya Mark. I've been there before. When the 235's came out in '97, I waited 3 months for one. If your really impatient go the Scanners Unlimited route, top notch company.

As I said there is another fellow here that got the 246 earlier this week from Scanners Unliimtied and went the UPS overnight also. When they came to the door it cost him $59.00 for the GST, BROKERAGE FEES
He also got his purchase in less than 24hrs.
I think that is well worth the extra costs of shipping knowing that it is not bounciing around all over the place for 3 to 10 days overland
It sounds like maybe I will have to give Radio World a second look though when sales come up
