I was looking at a website that listed some FAQ's about the BC246T, and found a listing of hidden features/options. While the frequency counter thing is pretty cool, I tried some of the other ones...

Well, It deleted my existing memories!

Not only did I have to clear all of the memory (good thing for computer back up) but all of the sudden I could not upload my entire list... WTF!! I finally got it uploaded AFTER I had to HOLD POWER 2 9, which clears everything.

Now that I have fixed it, I was wondering what the heck these options are for? The FAQ calls them "load test data", but I have no idea what that means. ( I am no engineer, just curious) I did notice that one of them scans all the 2m amateur band.

Can anyone explain this?

Thanks!! :p

I'm not familiar with the BC246T in particular, but on other scanners, loading "Test Data" usually means replacing the channels with a default set from the factory, to test it in different bands, and ranges of frequencies. So this would explain why it deleted your existing programmed memories. The person that supplied that information should have pointed that out.

Yeah, they warned you a little... It said "make sure you have backed up all your files before attemting any of these commands" type of warning...

I had them backed up, but I did not anticipate the resistance to uploading afterwards....

Ahhh... I should have just left it alone...

It's all restored now, after some cussing and pissing, it's running like before.
Thanks to ARC246, otherwise, I would still be programming right now...

Ha!
