On the BC246T, is there a way to temporarily enter and hold on a talkgroup that isn't already entered into memory?

I found that on the BCD396T, while on the trunked system of interest, you just press hold, enter the talkgroup, and press hold again, and you're holding on that talkgroup. This apparently doesn't work on the BC246T.

I dont' have my 246 in front of me nor the manual, but when scanning a trunked system in ID-SEARCH mode and pressing HOLD while a talkgroup is active doesn't hold on the talk group?

Yes it does. But what if I want to just quickly enter a talkgroup that isn't programmed into memory, without waiting for it to become active? You can do this on the BCD396T, but the technique doesn't work on the BC246T.
