I know have read this, but I can't find it or remember where I saw it, but, What is the quickest way to enter and hold on a frequency that isn't already entered in the radio's memory?

With the radio in hold mode enter the freq then hold again.

When you 'enter' the frequency, DON'T USE THE ENTER BUTTON.

For example, to hold on 154.055:
If scanning, hit:
HOLD 154.055 HOLD

Can you use the "hold" method described above to decode and display any PL tone that may be present?

Yes, if the proper option is set. Go to the main menu, choose Srch/CloCall Opt, scroll to CTCSS/DCS Search and set this option On. Now the "hold" method described above will always display the PL tone. I personally leave that option on permanently.

(Details: When you use Hold, enter Freq, Hold, you go into the Qck Search Hold mode, and the Srch/CloCall Options apply. BTW, when you are in this mode you can use the rotary knob to scroll up and down in freq, or press Hold once more to start an automatic search up/down from the entered freq.)

Enjoy

Does this refer to the function where you can save a frequency while searching, or can you enter it directly from the keyboard?
I've always had trouble with manually entering freq's & alphatags, & just use the program now, but if this method for ebtering a new channel is for direct keyboard entry, then it may be very useful for me and others.
