Hi all!

Is it possible to scan 2 different counties (with different control channels) using Mot. Type 2 Trunking systems?

I want to scan 2 counties with my BC246T. I have 1 System Setup, with 2 groups.

System: Sac Area Cops
Group1: Sac Cops
Group2: Roseville Cops

I set up the frequencies according to codes found on radiorefernce.com

Sacramento (Sacramento County)
http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=4499

Roseville (Placer County)
http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=856

I combined the Control Channels from both counties...

Roseville (Placer County) 867.96250
868.46250
868.68750
868.87500

Sacramento (Sac County)
868.53750
868.73750
868.93750
868.96250

...In to one system named "Sac Area Cops"...
867.96250
868.46250
868.68750
868.87500
868.53750
868.73750
868.93750
868.96250

In "Sac Area Cops" System, I am scanning the control channels for both Sacramento and Roseville (2 different counties, as described above). I have 2 Talkgroups in the "Sac Area Cops" System.

Group1: Sac Cops (with Police Talkgroups)
Group2: Roseville Cops (with Police Talkgroups)

THE PROBLEM is that when I scan the system, I _never_ get Roseville radio traffic, only Sacramento... If I move Roseville out of "Sac Area Cops" into its own system (with the Roseville control channels and police talkgroups) it works fine..

How could this be? Is it possible to combine control channels from 2 different counties (with different control channels) under one system?

Thanks for your help!!

The scanner locks onto the 1st CC it finds and then baically ignores the rest. The best thing to do is create 2 individual systems.

That makes sense for the first time there is radio traffic, but what about after the radio traffic stops, and the scanner starts scanning the control channels again? Aren't the roseville control channels being scanned just like the sacramento ones? They are all in the same control channel list for the same System... yet, I never get Roseville talkgroups traffic (when combined with Sacramento).

I only get Roseville talkgroups when I move them into their one System and Group...I just don't understand why...

No the 2 systems need to go into 2 seperate systems in the BC246T. Once it locks onto the control channel it stays there unless it loses it or it changes. It remains locked onto it as it scans for active TGIDs. Unlike conventional frequencies once it's locked onto the Control Channel it stays there on the Uniden radios.
