BC246T Trunking Problem. ...

OK, Well, I'm a newbie, but a very fast learner, and already have 9 systems in my scanner, thanks to this site (contributing) and ARC246 software.

Anyways, I live in the State College, PA area, and listen to the PSU Police frequently, and it follws the convos. ok, but every 3-5 seconds during a conversation it 'cuts out' for half a second to 2 seconds, and cuts back in. Just complete silence. What's going on? is this normal when trunktracking? Is the scanner just getting to the new freq. or something?

ARC auto-downloaded and created the systems. SQ is ok, etc., etc.

Any suggestions?

PS - I DO have the most recent firmware too - have there been issues due to it?

You probably have priority set or weather alert set.

make sure that Close Call is turned off as well.

THat's kinda dumb that you have to turn off those features to properly track. Is there anyway it can search for those in between when I'm getting something? But- THANKS! I works!

In order to check a priority channel (Pri, weather or CC), the scanner has to listen to that frequency. When it's listening to the priority frequency it can't be listening to the trunking frequency. You'd need at least 2 receivers to do that.

(Radios affiliated with a trunk system can tell the trunking computer to switch them to another talk group if it becomes active, but they can't monitor it - the computer "monitors" it for them.)

Why can't it just do it in order, like the other systems, without it being a priority?

Because that's the purpose of priority - interrupting to check. If you want to just do it in order, program in the frequency in it's own system.
