The bc250d was one of the first digital ready scanners and since all the new digital scanners on the market now, it does not surprise me, send an email to uniden and they will tell you what their plans are. I have my bc250d and really like the radio.

godskidz,

Just a thought, if you're looking to get digital capability, the bc296d will be less expensive than the 250d with the digital card, and will have more features. If you're not interested in digital, the bc246t offers many more features for less $.
I've been keeping an eye on Ebay for a 250d, but even there I don't think the lower prices for USED gear is a better value than a new 296d or 246t.

This is really rather older news. A scan of the online dealers will reveal that most are out of stock. An additional point is that the plug-in card (BCi25d) that the radio requires to monitor P-25 audio is also being discontinued as a seperate sale item.

Hey guys

That's strange because I just got mine before Christmas at Universal Radio with the digital card for 339.99. It's a great radio. Like it as much as my pro-96

Take care

The Universal-Radio page dealing with the BC-250d plainly shows that it is not available due to being discontinued. The same page now shows the BCi25D card is no longer available either.

I got my BC250D with digital card installed at Amateur Electronics Supply in Orlando for $307.00 out the door and I really like this scanner.

BTW...was the last one they had in stock.

:?: Did that include the card for digital monitoring?

Like I said in my previous post It was before Christmas when I got it, and it included the card.
They probably sold out because it was a pretty good deal.

You are better off getting the newer 296D model. The 250D only receives 3600 baud trunked digital systems. The 296D receives both 3600 and 9600 baud systems, and the digital card is built in. Most new trunked digital systems are 9600 baud, so the 250D would be uselsess to you. As for the new 396 model, with a price tag of $800.00, unless you feel you really NEED IT, the price is outrageous. It has some nice features, but do you need all of that for your area or your preferences ? There is a thread on this board that explains all about it. Personally, I will stick with my 785D and 898T. They serve me well.

I agree with you on not buying the 250 for several reasons, but the prime one is that which you mention, the inability to work with an actual APCO-25 trunking system. As to the price, under what circumstances would you buy a radio at its suggested Mfg. List Price? When the 396 actually is released, it will be sold at a similar discount from list just as the 296. For an example, see the Universal Radio page on the BC296d and notice the list price. :)

Actually the price of the BCD396T should be the same as the BC296D about $600.
