bc296 fell doesn't charge or ext power

not sure how it happened but my 296 fell off the stand and hit the floor and is damaged internally. can't charge nor can i run it off the ext power. Anyone ever hear of this happening before? i'm sending the unit into uniden for repair next week when i p/u my 396 but was wodering if it's a common problem. I plan on keeping both units up and running (although spouse thinks 296 is getting sold when it comes back-oops no buyers). also while i'm posting, any tricks, programming advice etc on the 396 I should know before hand? (and yes Matt, I know but I want them both-LOL!!!)

the dc jack is very vunerable when the radio falls especially when the charger is plugged in. you are lucky you didnt break the vol/squelch control as well.
if you pm me, i will tell you where you can get it fixed locally.
