bc296 problem

not sure how it happened but my 296 fell off the stand and hit the floor and is damaged internally. can't charge nor can i run it off the ext power. Anyone ever hear of this happening before? i'm sending the unit into uniden for repair next week when i p/u my 396 but was wondering if it's a common problem. I plan on keeping both units up and running (although spouse thinks 296 is getting sold when it comes back-oops no buyers). also while i'm posting, any tricks, programming advice etc on the 396 I should know before hand? (and yes Matt, I know but I want them both-LOL!!!)

Here are some Keypad hacks which work for the 396..... Look at post 17 in the thread.

EDIT: It says its for Radio Shack Pro-83 but that was made by uniden.
