Hi there

What am I doing wrong?

Using the software that comes with these two scanners, I've ID'd the com port, matched the baud rates and checked the scanner I've got patched into my PC

As soon as I try to write to the scanner from the database, I get the following message:

"Communications Error! Please check BC296D or BC796D SS Remote Setting"

I've indicated the proper radio in the setup window.

Any ideas?

BC296D/796D software error

Hi there

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear.

I'm trying to write from my PC to the 796D.

I have the proper 9-pin male/female cord.

You have to set the baud rate and turn on pc control in the scanner. Check out Menu - 3 - 5 on the scanner. Make sure you set the baud rate to the same as in the software.

Got it!

Hi there

The software in question is that which is included with the scanner.

Just got off the phone from a scanner expert (who contacted me out of the blue with suggestions). He also sent me a ssb file with all the freqs and talkgroups I needed

Correct, it was a question of setting the baud rate and unchecking the FIFO buffer in Settings/Control Panel/Devices/COMM Ports/

As well, before writing to a bank he suggesting having the software read a bank.

That worked!

Happily listening as we write!

On my other desktop I have comport one and comport two. Got to get around to labeling which one is which to make it easier.

I got the same error message. I fixed it by lowering the baud rate to 38400.
