This may be old news for the more seasoned scanner ops here but I dont ever remember seeing this idea mentioned anywhere. The 296D being a handheld scanner goes with me when I travel. Wanting to scan SAFE-T with all those sites coming on line was becoming a logistical and operational nightmare.
Then it hit me, use control channel scan (plan2) and enter the control channels of the sites that I want to monitor along the way. Everything is in one bank, the scanner will do the work for me locking onto the strongest CC (with a little help from the squelch control) that it hears and when it looses one it will scan till it locks onto another.
I'm sure others have used this but like I said I dont recall ever reading about it.
