I am using a Pro 95 right now and use it a lot on battery. I understand that the BC296d will only last 6to8 hrs on a charge. Is there any options to use regular AA batteries when you need to?

Thanks

Officially, no. But, some people have 'rolled their own' packs - taping cells together and taping on the appropriate connector. If you like your 95, you should consider a '96. The learning curve will be much less steep. The only reasons for going Uniden are the PC control and LTR. But, you can find may more complete comparisons in other threads.

While I am a firm believer that the PRO-96 is a better unit, and does last longer than the Uniden on the same capacity cells, I think your battery discharge estimates may be a little low. But, I may be wrong. :)

Nope, he's right. When I had my 296D I could at best get 8 hours on a fully charged battery. Go with the pro-96. You won't be dissapointed.

Well I would like to go to the Pro 96 but where I live Lansing Michigan is going to a EDACS TRS narrowband. I understand that the BC 296d is the only one that will receive this.

Thanks
